Another of my Windows Movie maker experiments. What NBN3 use to have when it was experiencing technical difficulties (or broken down as I'd say as a kid) The pic isn't one of the exact ones but it gives you an idea of what they'd have. Plus you often had Wal Morrison(who use to do all their voice over work) saying "We apologise for this break in program. Normal service will resume as soon as possible"

This logo is from many many years ago ... And Nobbies lighthouse in the background ... Only Novocastrians would know this view ...
Pity some other pricks bought the station ...

NBN3 was the first TV station in Newcastle (and regional NSW for that matter). Before then Newcastle residents would have just had to get lucky and try to pick up TV stations from Sydney. ABC didn't start rolling out regional TV services until 1963 onwards.

You know, NBN-3 turned 46 on March 4 (they originally signed onto the air March 4, 1962).

I wasn't sure of the exact date but I knew it was back in 1962. I remember my nan saying she got a TV for the 1956 Olympics so does that mean we only had teh ABC in Newcatsle from '56-'61?
