@katlynnBluth I'm reading it right now. It definitely has more detail, but I think the movie stood its ground against the book. I especially think that the woman who plays Hatsumomo portrays her PERFECTLY.

I absolutely love this scene, disregarding all groundless pedophillic intepretations. It shows the power of compassion when none is expected, instilling hope in the hopeless and changing someone's life forever. Reminds me strongly of how the priest forgave Jean Valjean for stealing his silverware, telling the police that it was not stolen, but rather he had "given" it to him.
