My heart breaks for those Jewish boys and girls who gave their lives so that Israel may continue as a Jewish state; for the six million Jews murdered because they were Jews; for the Jews murdered in pogroms, inquisitions, and crusades; forced to fight in hostile armies; expelled from their homes; tortured, hunted, starved, deprived of freedom, of earning a living; and for all those who "survived", broken, to mourn and remember their loved ones.
