@DuykRuyk Yes, they can be done without a knife, being empty handed or with a small impact weapon like a yawara. In Kali training with weapons prepares you for the other forms of fighting. You can use a ratan (stick), a machete, a knife, even a pencil!, and the mechanics behind is the same. I'm studying Pekiti Tirsia and what I like is that this is a 100% practical system, no acrobatic or choreographic style, is meant and tested in real combat situations. And really works! Hope this helps.

Reminds me how Jason Bourne fights on 2:15 ,while they are filming they did stated that Jeff Imada who is a martial artist and choreographer did trained Matt Damon in that fighting style in behind the scenes.

@bursky09 lets just get straight to the point, muslims had many things that non muslims didn't have and the muslims were known and feared more by foreigners then the non muslims. muslims had armour made from brass. the non muslims didn't have many things for warefare. give me a list that the anamist or budhist had pre hispanic times, and i guarantee you the muslims had something better.

@bursky09 The lantaka was used before spanish arrived because gun poweder was transfered from china to the philippines by trading. The spanish claims that these guns were found when they came to the islands. When the spanish entered maynilla (presend day manilla) they were greeted with bronze lantakas (cannons) owned by a rajah who is muslim.

@copypacercopypacer there your wrong again, early igorots also has full clothes depending on which tripe ex kankanaey, ibaloys etc. the lantaka arrive at the late centuries after the spanish arrived, longs swords did exist here at the northern region i forgot whats its named though, the fact that your missing so many facts you didnt put any research on other tribes here at north, i think you have to much pride as a muslim? if you are one?

@bursky09 heres the difference pre hispanic times, filipino muslims wear full clothing, non muslims did not wear any..except for a loin cloth. filipino muslims had gun poweder and guns and cannons such as the lantaka, non muslims didn't have any, filipino muslims used longswords like the kampilan, non muslims like the igorot used small swords like the machete, in other words, filipino muslims had many things ahead of there brothers
