How to look like you know how to play guitar on youtube

All you need is:
1. Guitar
2. Amplifier
3. Wah pedal
4. 9V Battery or equivelant AC Adapater
5. Knowledge of basic guitar techniques (hammers/pulls, bends)
6. Knowledge of blues scale

Your first step is to plug in and fire up your amp. Play some loud power chords to get started and get your adrenaline pumping! Now here's the fun part. Just play lots of notes within your blues scale and play them really fast. It doesn't have to be melodic or interesting, just fast. Occasional throw in some random bends and bend up to some notes for added effect. Do lots of hammers and pulls without repicking your note. This way you don't need as much skill to play fast.

Excellent. Now the part that defines yourself as a guitarist, and seperates men from boys. Press firmly down on your wah pedal to activate it. Now rock it back and forth continually without any expressiveness or meaning. Randomness is the key here, folks.

Also, if you can put in some pinch harmonics.

There you have it. This should make your audience weep and bow down to your amazing performance.

you may be right. but i never played with a Wah Pedal, are you sure you're not a hell of a guitar player to make this sound good and fast?!

It's mostly just practice. If all you practice is playing the blues scale and using a wah, you will sound good doing it. At the time I made this video I had been playing for 4-5 years. in terms of playing "lead" guitar (scales) I only knew how to play the blues scale so that's all I did, hence it doesn't sound half bad.
