I'm always trying to find ways to lighten up the load for anything that I would have to carry... my rifle, my bug out bag... myself (Ha Ha).

In this video, I make improvements to my survival fishing system that I've made. I found the perfect item to replace the bulkier, heavier PVC pipe used to make my original fishing system, while saving a good deal of weight in the process.

  • Perfect tube! Hows the line memory on thet fishing line.

  • @Ebiczebulanious So far so good. I had it on the original PVC tube kit for about a year... it only has a slight coil to it. It's a braided twisted line (SpiderWire EZ Braid 30lb test [8 lb test dia.]). I chose it because is much stronger, but takes less space so I can have more on the reel. I am going to make one with different line on it to see if there will be a big difference or not.

  • Pretty cool idea, nice find. Have you actually tried fishing with it to test it out? I'd recommend going with smaller splitshots, if you need more weight, just add additional, more versatile that way.

  • @iliveoutside I will soon. The lake on my property is thawing out. As soon as it does I will test the new version out. The bag of splitshots I have has mixed weights, but I will get more of the lighter weight ones to try in a spare kit. Thanks for the comment!

  • I think those are 2ltr soda bottle blanks. I will message you a link if i cant put it here.

  • @john762x39 someone else had mentioned that to me as well. I actually found these at my local supermarket in the form of a fruit punch flavored 26 gram "Super Protein Shot"(Tastes Nasty!). As you can see, they work great as a replacement to the heavier PVC pipe! Thanks for the comment!

  • I love it !!! Super idea brother. I'm sooo going to make one of these. Thanks for sharing your kit with us !!!

  • Great channel thanks for sharing.

  • Added to favorites. I will give it a try sometime in the spring.

  • @docsimonson I plan on making a video of it in action as soon as the lake we live on unfreezes. The temperature is usually cold enough to freeze the lake solid this time of year, but it has been unusually warm so far. The lake is frozen, but not thick enough walk safely on to ice fish yet.

  • That was great! I'd love to see a video of that rig in action. Thanks for sharing!
