Watertown, CT November 2011 - Buried here are the people who founded Watertown, laid out the roads, cleared the land, built the early homes, churches, etc. The decisions these people made affect the daily lives of everyone in town today. They were patriots, farmers, shop keepers, religious leaders, mill operators, and in the case of Titus Foote, and axe murder victim. There is a startling number of children buried here. This cemetery dates back to the 1740s. It has been cared for by the Daughters of the American Revolution since 1904. The cemetery is open to the public during daylight hours but extreme care must be taken when visiting to avoid physical contact with any of the headstones due to the fragile nature of the monuments.
Well done
