The 18 is a transonic plane,but Mach 1.00 is not permitted in populated areas. You don't hear the plane till it's 800 feet past is because you are 800 feet away. On humid days we've even seen the B-2, slow as it was, squeezing moisture from the air to make contrails.

The military is not allowed to break the sound barrier over land per the FAA. I have to agree with iavakx85sam. The carrier videos are better.

this video is not a video of breaking the sound barrier.
the f 18 in the video was very close to breaking it but was not travelling at mach 1.0 or over.
only a sonic boom indicates a jet is flying faster than the speed of sound and the cloud that forms around the plane is just water vapour. it can happen at low speed.it just means the air is humid.

Those clouds do NOT equal broken sound barrier. Close, but no cigar. You can hear the jet before it comes, something that wouldn't happen if a jet was in fact breaking the sound barrier.
What they're doing is as best as they can approach at an airshow, and that's going like .95 mach.
Sorry to burst your bubble, the ones you should look for are the videos on aircraft carriers.
