President Rajapaksa has expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to another resounding victory of the Freedom Alliance establishing a record which cannot be shattered in the Western Provincial Council election history.
In a special statement, he said everyone who made the Freedom Alliance triumph at the polls deserve honour. The city like the village has embraced the Mahinda Chintana. The power secured by the Alliance with a notable majority in the Provincial Council and the last stage reached by terrorism which paralysed the country for three decades have brought new expectations to the motherland. The mandate given by the Western Provincial polity sends a decisive message to the international community. The Western Province has strongly emphasised that there is no right or morality for any force to give a lifeline to brutal terrorism which is expected to be routed. The President pointed out that it is the onus of the new peoples representatives of the Western Province to take the lead on behalf of the critical measures in the major task of building a new Sri Lanka.
