It is a move that has enraged Palestinians and now it has drawn strong criticism from Washington.

As Condoleeza Rice arrives in the region for a visit, the issue of Israeli settlements is threatening to cause a rift between the two countries.

Since the Annapolis conference in November, Israel has approved the construction of 7974 new homes.

Dan Nolan reports.

  • @DaBoomz13 It is the other way around.

Between the Phoenicians and the jewish tribes, to the Roman expansion, the Persian expansion, the Ottoman expansion, the British expansion, etc, the Arabs have actually lived for over a thousand years in that small part of what was Israel.

Far as I'm concerned, Israel was dispersed thousands of years ago, but jews didn't live there for thousands of years. They did for less than that. This is not before Canaan eras.

  • @DaBoomz13 yeah but not the euro jews living in isreal now. the semitic jews had good relations with the arabs before

  • i want to come backe to hayfa ,i am native mor than facke jewesh!

  • It's against Judaism to return to the holy land without the Jewish Messiah, until then, Jews are to live in exile according to the Torah and Talmud. And Zionist leaders were not Jews by blood, they were and are EUROPEAN-Ashkenazi, so they are not of Abraham, Isaac, or Jacob. They are PHONEYS. See Rev. 2:9.3,9 See also jewsagainstzionism[dot]com

  • Personally, I think that if Palestinians have a problem with it, they should buy or rent houses of their own in those settlements (if they're not allowed to, they should be). If the settlements are an obstacle to the two-state solution then that's okay because the 2-state solution is a joke. How can a spit of land only 40x10 kilometers big be an autonomous state? How can another tiny spit of land be one either if it's split by a confusing spider web of checkpoints and apartheid walls?

  • God, the israelis are eating the pizza, whilst discussing who it belongs to !
