@larchmontmark Mark, wow. I just saw this comment. Those were wonderful days at Cornell. I still think about Donald Grout and Malcolm Bilson. I don't know if Dr. Grout is still around, but what a huge influence he was. And were it not for Mr. Bilson, I may have never begun to play Schubert. Where are you these days?
I also remember that it was your playing of Schubert's A-flat Impromptu from Op. 142 that let me know it was a 'real piece' rather than just something for beginners to study -- and almost immediately it became one of my most beloved pieces.
I know that you've done 'a lot' since then, in various spheres, and it's great to see that you're still playing the old stuff, and so beautifully.
Ron -- I stumbled on this from you while browsing for Schubert Impromptus and I'm glad I did. I knew you a little at Cornell (also studied with Bilson) and I very well remember some of your terrific performances, especially Beethoven's D major Sonata and Chopin's Barcarolle (which I heard you playing in one of Grout's classes and so I just barged in). :-)
