I wanted to show just how badly I treat my Dog on a daily basis. The abuse this poor dog suffers is beyond description. See for yourself.

Actually Magnum (Maggie) leads a life that most dogs would love to. She is a very gentle dog, who lives with 2 cats. One of the cats is her best friend. The other cat has been looking to take out a contract hit on Maggie, but can't find a hit man who works for a year's supply of Kitty litter.

I got Maggie a long time ago from an animal shelter in Burlington County, New Jersey. She was about 6 months old then, and looked like a purebred pitbull, except for her very thick legs. Later on, the reason for such thick, strong legs started to show. They would be needed to hold up her massive body. Right now, Magnum tips the scale at just over 110 pounds. She is big, and heavy, but solid as a rock. She uses her weight as a weapon, being able to knock a person down pretty easily if she wants to.

Magnum is not trained to attack, but is very protective of me. She walks without a leash very well, as long as she is in a good mood. She understands a broad range of voice commands, and can be called back from a distance with hand signals.

She has been in every one of the lower 48 States, riding along with me in my truck. I have since switched jobs, and now do food grade work, so Maggis has to stay home now. I do miss having her in the truck, but I don't miss picking up 110 pounds of dog, to put it back in the truck. When she was with me in the truck, she sat in the driver's seat, and kept watch over things, while I slept in the back. She slept most of the time I drove, but she was on duty every moment I slept. I never worried about my safety, sleeping on the road, while she was with me. She is retired from trucking, but still keeps a watch on the house.

I think back about that day in the animal shelter, picking out which dog I would take home. I am so glad I made the choice I did. If you need any dog or cat, either as a friend or guardian, you can probably find a good choice at your local shelter.

  • dont talk about animal abuse u kill them

  • @MrZeus169 This is what you call sarcasm. It is a joke, that laying in a bed, and eating cookies would be considered abuse. Maggie was 6 months old when I got her from the rescue, and she was with me in almost every state in The U.S., in my truck. She was with me 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, till I got a different job, that does not allow dogs in the truck. Maggie has seen the whole country, and lived a life as my family member, not just my dog. Sorry if you didn't understand the joke.

  • BTW, That is a great thing you did, going to the shelter and saving a dogs life. Thank You for that.

  • The sad part was choosing only one dog out of all that were there. At a shelter in Philadelphia, I had an Akita grab me in a hug, and barked loudly. I swear it killed me not to be able to take him home, but we didn't have the room for him.

So many great dogs, some even purebreds, that nobody wants. I promise you if I ever hit the lottery for millions, you will see me on the news, donating most of it to shelters.

  • Wow, she looks VERY abused. I think we should call PETA now :P.

Lovely dog. You did such a good thing adopting her.

  • Adopting her was a very sad story, with a happy ending. When Maggie was at the shelter, where I found her, it was her second time there. She was at the shelter once before, but whoever took her brought her back. When I took her home, she did chew on one of the legs on the kitchen table. This problem was easily corrected, by getting her a chew toy. Besides that easy fix, Maggie walked absolutely perfectly on a leash. She is a great dog. Protective, but sweet to those she knows are OK to be there.
