This is Steve-O my bearded dragon. He is the tamest dragon I have ever seen. Besides the fact that we are hardly ever apart, he has always been one to cuddle and be the center of attention. He just turned a year old and this is my gift to him. I love him more than words can describe and I wouldnt trade for anything in the world.
He loves people and I take him to school where he gets all the attention. He also seems to love my brother, even though my brother pokes him and is really annoying. Steve also loves the windowsill where he can watch all the happenings outside and feel the breezes and smell the smells, but he doesnt really like being outside. Something about him that most people find amazing is that he goes to the bathroom in the toilet! I started when I first got him, as soon as he was ready to go, I would take him to the toilet and after he went I would praise him and give him a snack. He caught on really fast and now thats the only place he will go.
You will notice that there are a lot of pics of Steve in blankets and a white dog bed (its his). He loves soft fabrics and prefers them over anything else. He snuggles and gets all cozy in them and then wants to be stroked to sleep. Steve prefers to sleep outside his tank on me in his blanket, then I tuck him in for the night. Although he has a nice size tank filled with blankets and beds (with proper heating and lighting) he still would rather be out with me and my family.
When Steve was first purchased from a pet store (not giving names) he was very ill. He had a liver problem and would only eat about 2 mealworms a week on his own! I was forced to force feed him for 2 months and give him a 10 min bath every day. I was not about to let him die, even though the vet said he probably wouldn't make it. He had all the proper heating and lighting at the time, he just was very sick from the bad care from the pet store. He was stick thin, almost all his bones were showing, he was weak and not eating. I do not regret purchasing him however, he stole my heart the moment I saw him and Im glad I put forth the effort to saved him. I hope people do NOT buy animals from pet stores because not all stories end up happy like this one. His vet bills cost more money than I could afford and I was told he wouldnt survive. I do not want anyone to think that buying the cute little guy in the window will always have a happy ending.
Steve is now healthy and fat, living out the rest of his life with me, my family and my roommates. His growth was stunted from his severe illness and so he may forever be this size, but his personality surly makes up for it. I recommend a bearded dragon for anyone who is thinking of getting a pet lizard or reptile.

  • pretty girl and pretty lizard ;P how often do you have him out each day?

  • @IamMeUareYou Hours lol He comes out in the morning before school, then when I get home until its time for bed. On days where I am home all day, he is pretty much out with me the whole time. Most of the time he is just sleeping in his dog bed with his blanket, but sometimes he will explore and get into trouble lol Thanks for your comment :)
