The Manchester Evening News has published an excellent article exposing - yet again - the continued destruction and dissection of greyhounds sustaining injuries uneconomical to treat and greyhounds uneconomical to re-home at Belle Vue dog track.

Officials told the M.E.N. journalist - Yakub Qureshi - that in the last 12 months, Liverpool University scientists had received 33 dogs from the stadium 31 of these were put to sleep because of injury and the two others put down because of aggressive behaviour.

The new figures reaffirm the huge numbers of greyhounds destroyed track side - estimated to be in the region of 1,500 on the remaining 25 major gambling tracks and 8 independent tracks.

Responding on behalf of the industry Ian Parry claims amongst others he would welcome a public debate with anti-racing campaigners on the safety of the sport something which greyhound protection groups are endeavouring to organize.

But until greyhound protection groups can secure this golden opportunity to publicly expose the cruel and corrupt industry, please try to support the campaigners who tirelessly educate the race goers at Belle Vue of the abuse they are supporting.

  • All you guys who commented are so blinded! These dogs are bred for racing but most don't match up to the standard are so are killed, Dogs that don't win races are no longer bringing in money and are so simply "thrown away" They DO NOT enjoy this, the retired dogs are often left with scars on their back end where they have been pushed into the crate before they run, the dogs that fall and injure themselves are often not treated, just made to run again until they no longer can. YOU BET = THEY DIE.

  • The more video's we can release on the 'thugs' that breed, own and race, the magestic Greyhound, the better. 'Nation of animal lovers,' LIE! If any of you out there really 'do love your animal,' then 'do something!'

  • I know that the track has raised money for the dogs that retire from racing for decades. The track - which doesn't own any of these dogs remember - has set up its own retired greyhound charity. Has the protester interviewed thought it through - where does she think all the racing dogs will go if the sport ceases - a far greater number than those retiring from the sport would be doing what exactly? By the way their own charity never puts a healthy dog down.

  • go and protest about about people throwing dogs off bridges and drowing dogs instead of protesting sbout dogs which are cared for all day long and doing what they enjoy doing

  • christ what next, ban ppl's cats from catching a bird/mouse and bringing it into their garden.greyhounds will allways chase anything smaller/prob kill it if fast enough.why dont u try the upper class that shoot birds/hunt foxs(which is barbaric).oh u cant cant because they have their heavys/police scuttle'n u away, the greyhound racing industry has and will continue 4 many a year.what do u think would happen to the thousand of greyhounds that r racing will do if u acheive, live in a green field

  • Those dogs look so happy. I don't see what the problem is. They have to die sometime, why not euthanasia? All of my dogs were put to sleep, I think that's how it works these days.

  • Greytexploitations, I think that circusboy has been given ample opportunity to express his narrow mind. I agree that even the dull and ignorant have their story, but circusboy needs to be cut off!

  • Great video highlighting exactly what a vile industry this really is - tragic comments 'we do more than we need to!', 'the dogs are happy!' Obviously the dogs are 'Happy to finally be let out of their hell-holes'. No negative comments posted here can get away from the FACTS that the dogs are cruelly used as a commodity with no regard for their existence.

  • @Greytexploitations by rabble rousing and using your minority voice to try to force the rule of law on a silent majority, yes you are pushing your morality onto other people. there is a distinct difference between people and most animals, they are what is known as illogical creatures. A retard does need guidance in life, so let me hold your hand and teach you about the democratic process, liberty, and personal sovereignty you are trying to destroy, because of your misguided beliefs.

  • @circusboy90210

I don't believe I have ever told another human what is correct or moral for them.

I have only ever stated my beliefs and what I consider to be immoral.

You never did answer my question - Are you saying humans who have no control over their lives and even less ability than an animal to communicate - too young/old or disabled - should be treated as you believe animals should be treated?
