Recovery of the Remotely Operated Vehicle JASON

JASON is a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) owned and operated by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. JASON was used aboard the University of Washington's Research Vessel Thompson to conduct bathymetric, photographic and video surveys of the seafloor at the Axial Seamount on the Juan de Fuca Ridge. These surveys were conducted to determine sites for placement of scientific instruments and fiber optic cable network as part of the Regional Scale Component of the Ocean Observatory Initiative. http://interactiveoceans.washington.edu/
