The CouchSurfing Movement (Documentary) (Preview) [draft cut]
IMDb Page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1935262/

**
Facing xenophobia and insecurity present in modern societies, the CouchSurfing (CS) project is a new approach to overcoming these overwhelmingly negative characteristics in modernity. The CS project's mission is to create a better world through the exchange cultures and the opening of homes, minds, and hearts. The CS project first started to allow travelers the opportunity to stay with local hosts for no cost. Over the last few years, the project has developed and received a lot of attention in the media and from scholars around the world. The unique ideology of the project, which contradicts current social systems, allows CouchSurfers to develop a diverse outlook on their interactions with others across the globe. The goal of CouchSurfing is to bring people back to the 'village' and the idea of a sharing and building relationships within communities. This documentary explores the CouchSurfing project as a social movement. The documentary presents interviews I conducted across the United States, with members and non-members alike.

"Couch-surfers are lazy losers that laze about and make you feel bad cause you have to go to work. They are killing the economy and dragging us back to the cave men days. They are economic terrorists! Plus they appear really normal. Very hard to distinguish in a crowd. Extra dangerous."
--David 'Ratsack' Mitsak, A member of the CouchSurfing Project

  • I'm also a terrorist!!! OMG, I loved this video!!!

  • how about a female perspective? Only 3 voices is not enough.

  • I love this video. Every person is wonderfully articulate. I think we should have people from all over the world though:) The only thing I would delete is the joke about removing the bags. I know people might think that this goofy, but I do not feel comfortable with this. Even though he is really funny. I would leave in all of his other jokes.
