  • Thanks so much! I finally get it! GOD Bless you!! ^^

  • no, i think it's apparent that i haven't been 19 for some time now. the age is most likely the default setting when these videos were posted.

    how's the playing going?

  • i went to ure profile and it says u are 19!! u are not 19!! OR are u !!?? : |

  • honestly, didnt get it..

  • great question. and the answer is this version of the c chord is actually a variation of the c chord. it's a C add 9.

the reason i used this version is that your third and fourth fingers don't have to move when shifting from the g chord in previous lesson. the less fingers you have to move, the easier the transition is to make.

yes, you can also play a c chord:

1st finger, second string, first fret

2nd finger, fourth string, second fret

3rd finger, fifth string, third fret.

  • Jake, thanks for the lessons. Very clear and easy to understand. Question...Why do some C chords play like your description ( G like ) and some use only three fingers on first fret second string, second fret fourth string and third fret fifth string?...Thanks again.

  • it's probably because your not pressing hard on the string. u have to press pretty hard.

  • sorry i'm so late in responding to this:

try putting your thumb on the center of the back of the neck, that should help your fingers arch more so just the fingertips touch the string. i know that not how i held the guitar in the video, but i learned with bad technique. all the best, jake

  • so...jake, elvis, buddy, ricky and waylon. which one of these is not like the others?

me (jake). i'm alive and they are all incredibly talented.

you might google or yahoo "leather covered guitars" to find who can do something for your guitar (mine even has my name tooled into it). and i can ask tom, if you want, if he's interested in doing another.

    hope that helps.

  • why thanks, i think it looks pretty cool, too. the guitar is a standard gibson wm-45, which is a plain jane version of the j-45 (actually j-45's are sunburst finished and the j-50 is the same guitar in a natural finish, so it's more of a satin finished version of the j-50). what makes it look so cool is the hand-tooled leather cover that my friend tom made for me.

now, elvis had a leather covered guitar. so did buddy holly, ricky nelson and waylon jennings.
