These Triops were raised from the offspring of a Triops that I bought on the internet. I was very happy to see them grow, and felt sad when I found them dead on New Year 2010. Here's a little compilation of the videos that I took.

Many thanks to BluesTriops, who always answered my questions and helped infinitely with the raising process!

  • yay ...so its normal ... good :p thaught mine was blind or something :p

out of my lil pack i brought only one hatched :c

when i feed it the pellets i crush one pellet between 2 spoons intil its just like dust but i put it on top of the water but it wont come up for it... but i think its eating the sand/plant conditioner...ive heard they eat anything but.. is that healthy for it?/

  • The dust eventually falls to the bottom, where they eat it, so don't worry. In time, mine learned that the food is always at the top. They will (in time) learn to go to the surface when they're hungry, where there is most likely to be food.

Also, although they do not have watches or anything, feed them consistently at the same hour everyday. They have their animal sense of time, and it definitely works. You train them, and yourself.

My tip: Make sure the sand isn't too fine (like powder).

  • Oh, and don't worry, out of the package I bought, only one hatched, but that doesn't mean I wasn't able to grow plenty more out of her eggs! *hint* :P

It's very easy to raise her eggs all by yourself, so as long as you're able to take out the eggs and dry them, everything will work out fine.

    Have fun!

Any questions, we're here. (BluesTriops helped me a lot with mine. Don't be afraid to PM him.)

  • :c my triop is just born like 3 days old and is swimming into the wall .. ?

  • Totally normal. They have really poor eyesight. And remember, not even the human eye can see a crystal wall underwater.

Mine do that all the time. (They did die, but it was more of oldness.) You should worry more about water changed. That's the real killer.

  • Sorry to find them dead =(

I'm still trying to find out why the sand would agitate them...

Your much better at this film making thing than I am!

  • I really think it was a fine that was too fine (it wasn't like beach sand, which has big grain). This one was more like flour, instead of other sands which are more comparable to crystallized sugar.

A sand so fine could've been accidentally ingested by them, and it's not something edible, so maybe doing so hurt them inside.

  • The last time I had triops there was one that was a bright pink color. After that one grew up the other 5 started to disapear 1 every couple of days tell he was the last one. I suspect he ate the others. Does know how to breed them because they're hard to find and they die to quickly?

  • There real i bought them at hobby lobby.

  • What video edit device did you use?

  • @Sakano Ah. I see. That could've been it then. Yea, the sands I use are around normal gain. I went and bought some new sand for my next two set-ups, a blue sand and a black sand. Both differenet brands that I know well and trust. "Dowell" and "CaribSea"

I was looking for a red-yellow sand similar to the natureal sand Triops from the south-west united states would've lived in. Oh well!
