Mark Blumberg discusses Freaks of nature: What anomalies tell us about development and evolution

In these excerpts from a recent book reading, Blumberg discusses the odd connection between deformities of facial development (as in cyclopia) and the development of an elephant's trunk, and the relationship between oddly shaped bodies and novel behavior.
