On March 20th, Bicentennial mall in Nashville, TN was alive with the beauty and fun of high-flying kites.
Kids and Kites is our response to our First Ladies call to help our children combat childhood obesity, by getting out and learning about the art of making kites and how to fly them. In years past our children used to run, jump and play physically challenging games to have fun. Flying kites was a favorite activity for spring. to-day kite-making is almost a lost art. Few of today's youngsters have ever made a kite and very,very few have ever flown a kites.
We hope to revive the lost art, and fight obesity. In March each year, we will gather at Bicentennial Mall for our kite-flying activity sure to thrill the youngsters of all ages. There will be fun,music,food and prizes at our annual Kids and Kites. why not come and join us, District 54 State Representative Brenda Gilmore, District 19 Council member Erica Gilmore, Joan Randall and Lois Winston.
