you know everyone keeps saying she was better around now because she was an alcoholic and depressed and stuff but actually she only really started getting really bad around you are free and sort of gradually from after moon pix. But asides from being shy and possibly stoned, she really wasn't that fucked up.

@marymary111 There may be a personal element to this song, but its mostly about child soldiers and the war diamond trade. She makes that clear on the more recent ACL version of this song, adding a verse about the Jesse Jackson - Charles Taylor connection.
In the ACL version, listen to a) the background singers, b) what she's trying to do by going into "Satisfaction" right from Cross-bones. The band doesn''t quite follow her but that''s 'grown-up' Cat power.

i love that if you see cat power live, you will see a very different cat power. she has said that she doesn't see the point of singing the songs the way that you hear the on the album and i agree with her so much. this is an amazing performance.

Its so horrible that she feels she has to say sorry. this is a beautiful song and seeing her play it like this makes me really sad. Not because it sounds bad but you can hear how painful it is for her to play it. Cat power has made records that mean so much to so many people and when a person has provided so much comfort and created so many beautiful things you hope life lets them be happy but it doesn't. I hope it doesn't hurt her like this anymore....

Are there any other videos from this set aside from the Metal Heart performance? I LOVE old Cat Power concert footage, but they're so rare!

Sure. I have the whole show on DVD-video and I'm able to convert it into DVDrip (700MB) and send it to you via rapidshare or so if you're interested...Or I'm able to post everything on youtube this way. It take some time. I'm busy right now but I'm glad you like it. Have a nice day.
