David Cameron wants a killswitch for the internet and social media sites as well as potentially end anonymity because of the London riots. What are your thoughts on the power of social media and what to do about it?

  • Anything can be misused. My problem is when all are punished for the acts of the few. It sickens me that government will use events such as this to limit the rights of all instead of punishing those who did harm to others.

I don't want people to pay fines or in jail and add to the tax burden. I want them to pay restitution or work off the damages. If they refuse to do so... then put them in work camp/jail. Would be nice to see the victims and not the state put first.

  • @deadman12078 Yes, we shouldn't be guilty before proven innocent.

  • @COMMUNISTPHILOSOPHY The riots in the UK were because of an entitlement culture amongst the youth and rampant materialism and hedonism. It has nothing to do with the youth "rising up against the evil and oppressive force of capitalism" they aren't interested and intellectually engaged enough to care about all that political crap you drone on about. I also doubt someone all the way in NZ will have any accurate insight into affairs of the UK, which you have just proven.

  • Anything can be used for good or evil.

  • @COMMUNISTPHILOSOPHY LOL. You need a shrink.

  • Abby you try to slander the legitimacy of the London riots "not comparable to the middle east"?? ay? Why is that? Do you think the rioters had no authentic legitimate reasons for what they did?

The riots were an uprising against capitalist repression, you can try to deny this and slander it, BUT nothing will change that

  • next minute, the fascist capitalist lying freaks will be blocking or stopping Communists on YT and twitter etc and STILL claiming that the fascist UK and U$A are "democracies" lol, what a pathetic joke YOUR system is

  • I agree with you here.

  • @abbynormal0ne Truth doesnt need sympathy or agreement, it stands on its own even if some people choose to ignore it

  • @abbynormal0ne Well protests against what the government is doing would be aloud, if someone is going to commit a crime by the laws of the land the government must stop them, it doesn't matter why they are doing it or who they are doing it against. If those people off Facebook said lets go protest the government could not have done anything, even if a riot happened at the protest, it's there own fault for being that stupid. This now mean people on the web can say and do anything they want.

  • @abbynormal0ne Absolutely; viva les used brains.
