Definitely, the Davies boys were under the thrall of alcohol at that time -- it took a while, but they became sober, eventually.

you must watch "imaginary man", a documentary about ray davies, just great. there's another, from the same director, of dave. both amazing!

what a great showman, the english were terrific in this era. Although not as magnificent as Freddie, as entertaining, perhaps more so. Kinks are extremely underestimated...
