@TheJake1005 Yes the allies could of have taken Berlin before the Soviets got there, but there was an agreement that that the Soviets, who suffered terrible losses and suffering to the Nazis, would be allowed to capture for the prestige. The allies did not object to this, mainly in part that it cost the USSR 300,000 + casualties to take the city in some of the most fierce fighting in the entire war.

@Commiton Strange I believe I was taught that the Allies were on Berlin's doorstep, but made the deal with the USSR for them to take the city. Correct me if Im wrong.
