Here's a demo of my vintage 1946 Gibson BR-1 amp. There are two parts: first with a Tokai MIJ Les Paul gold top with Wolfetone P-90s, then a parts Stratocaster with Don Mare pickups.

The 12" Jensen field-coil speaker has been reconed, a grounded power cord is installed, and a replacement back panel is installed. Other than that it's pretty much original.

The tube lineup is a 5U4G rectifier, (2) 6L6 output tubes, and 6SJ7, 6SC7, 6SN7 in the pre-amp.

This is the model used by Danny Cedrone when he recorded the solo on the original Bill Hailey & The Comets version of Rock Around The Clock. See here for additional info: http://www.the-jime.dk/Rockabilly_Guitar/Rock_Around_the_Clock_Solo.htm

  • That is one sweet sounding amp!!!!! I just won an all original REX Valco 4 tube 8" speaker amp on ebay made in 1959 and can't wait to get it!

  • Great little tube amp..But you can get similar tone with a modern single end amp....

  • what did you pay for that amp? sounds cool

  • Amp of the gods!
