  • Thanks uploading this video, I really appreciate it (especially the subtitles.)

  • almost ALL zainichi today are immigrants that escaped Korea during the Korean war (war between North and South Korea) and nothing to do with the Japanese annexation.

  • @glennyang Also, the process of naturalization is very shameful. For example, in order for you to become a Japanese citizen, you must change your name to Japanese style. This is very much akin to colonial practice of Sosi-Kaimei. (this changed recently I heard). Esp. for most zainichis whose parents got killed in mineshafts (while getting exploited) etc. this is hard to do. Even when these Zainichis obtain citizenship, once their "true" identity is revealed they are treated like burakumins.

  • @glennyang Buddy there's a reason they refuse to become citizen. Their identity as a minority became reified over several decades of persecution and hardship. If Japan had just given these zainichis citizenship (which they had given to most zanichi Koreans during occupation era) then there would not have been any problem. (And those who refuse can go back to Korea). But citizenship was taken away from them and their children (born in Japan) were considered outsiders.

  • @glennyang Whats next demonize Zainichi Koreans???

  • CYRAXJ IS TALKING LIKE A VICTIM..... BOOO HOOOO, CRY BABY.

it is ok to be proud of heritage, but after 3rd generation still refusing to become a citizen and place loyalty to the country that one is born and fed, that is just not right.

even worse, refusing to share the same fate as one's neighbor and demanding voting right is just CRAP.

zainichi korea can be prod to be korean but don't ask for voting rights if you don't share the same fate as japanese citizen

  • No matter where I go, I will always remember my root

and Arirang is forever in my heart

  • Koreans in Japan, China, Russia , U.S and others countries suffered the same disciminations. I personally experienced a lot of that in my trips. Simply love your mother land and be proud of your heritages and cultures. For me and my family we are proud to have 3 nationalites or even confusing more confusing is 4. They should do a documentary on my family.

  • I feel truly american. But also Truly Korean. But I do agree Kyopos have their own history, culture, way of thinking. (Everyone rememebers the LA riots)

  • Go and asked any Zainichi Korean in Japan. You stupid Nip.
