I have the same problem with my Time Warner. It started on Saturday. Luckily I have TiVO. I'm waiting for the guy to show up right now, and I'm sure he's going to blame the TiVO, but the TiVO makes showing signal strength and error correction very easy. I can show RS corrected and uncorrected numbers, (RS= Reed Soloman). These numbers used to both be zero or sometimes, very infrequently 10/15, but now they're in the hundreds and thousands.
I hate Time Warner. All I want to watch is NBA TV and MTV, but everything from TW is so much more expensive than other providers. It's a shame that I'm in a part of Manhattan NY where the only provider is TW and there's no Fios available in my area. TW has up to 50 Mbps and Fios has 150 Mbps. Stupid TW.
I have the same f'in problem. live in KC and the guy came this morning to "fix" the problem...Ofcourse when he arrives it magically stops...He pushes a bunch of buttons and brought up some screens that no one knows how to get to and as soon as he left the shit started again...so frustrating
Mine sux more but I have two boxes the one outside is great but my bed room one sux so bad.... Sigh every 2 seconds it lags . It wasn't like this before...
We have been the victim of this as well. It only happens with our dvr box. My husband brought up a diagnostic screen (which the customer service rep had no idea it was even there) and there are major problems with the signal. Yet they claim it is fine. We've switch dvr boxes and this did not help. These problems do not happen with our non-dvr box in our bedroom. We have the black samsung box in our bedroom and it works fine, I wonder if you know if they have the samsung box for dvr as well.
Love that you posted this, and made all of us TWC victims feel less alone! Yes, they always say the signal is fine and then the technician comes along and says the signal is too strong. And once that's fixed, you may still have issues until you have them swap out your cable box to the black Samsung SMT-H3270 model. I think that's solved my problem, and that of friends of mine (for now).
