  • Interesting Q&A

  • @Uberlaser .. there's also the timeline part you should be considering sir ..there's the "old" testament and there's the "new" testament ... not all the things in the old testament are obsolete but there are some that are .... perhaps the most important example of such, due to what Jesus experienced on the Cross, in this new testament era we don't have to have a human priest sacrificing animals as a momentary substitute for our sins.. and also because of Him everyone is equal....

  • It's amazing that in 2011, there are people still going round living their lives according to rules in a 1600 year old book written by Iron age men, a book with more contradictions and holes in it than a swiss cheese.

Actually, to be more accurate, according to SOME rules in the book, since no-one keeps slaves or believes in stoning any more.

Nice that you people can choose which rules to obey and which not to, isn't it?

  • The Sabbath was blessed and sanctified by God from the first week of creation and represents His rest. It is important for us to realize that being free from God's law (the ten commandments) does not mean we are no longer bound to them it means we no longer need to be bound to them because the Spirit of Christ in-beds them into our hearts just as they are in-bedded in His.

  • @trispytreems I appreciate the respectful way you disagree with me. That's a nice change from most. However, you are misunderstanding this passage of scripture. The word is Sabbaths, plural, because the Jews had many special feast days and High Sabbaths associated with their traditions. They were very legalistic about them towards the gentile converts. The Sabbath mentioned in the Ten Commandments is different. Jesus said if you love me keep my commandments. Both testaments teach this obedience.

  • @areyouready22 With all due respect. Firstly sir, we as Christians do not need to observe any special days - this is specified in the new testament.

"Therefore let no one act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day- things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ." (Col 2:16)

(read the whole chapter in context.) What is it a shadow of? an actual rest (Hebrews 4:4-11) Be free in Christ brother.

  • Proverbs 16:33 - People throw lots to make a decision but the answer comes from the Lord.

:-P Just read that the night and this vid came to mind.

  • Deut. 12:29-32 is a perfect example of God's command for his children to make sure they did not adopt pagan practices in order to worship Him. They did just that and we still do it today. Christmas, Lent, Halloween, Easter, St. Patrick's Day and Sunday Sabbaths are all rooted in Paganism. I know it sounds very negative and when someone suggest we are mistaken in our practices we either dismiss it or get apprehensive. I humbly suggest you do a little research for yourself.

  • @deeakingsdaughter It is convenient to use these verses to justify just about anything. These verses do apply to matters such as guidelines in our Christian walk. However, in matters of God's law we must obey His word alone. We can not serve God when we put our own will above His. The subject of the correct Sabbath is and has been controversial ever since Constantine changed it from Saturday to Sunday in order to unite the masses but it is part of the Ten Commandments and thus non negotiable.

  • @areyouready22 To which I say read Romans 14,verses 6 and 12. We are here to serve and praise God, so if we want to do that and honour His Holy Word, let's start being practical, not just good theologians, fighting with words.
