This pair of headphones from Philips might be a bit overpriced at a 100 euros, but it still delivers pretty good value for money. The build quality and comfort are outstanding, and the tangle free-cable also get's some props from me. Sound quality wise it is also a pretty awesome pair of headphones, but the bass intense sound experience might not be desirable for everyone. The folding mechanism of these headphones could also be improved a bit, but all in all this is an outstanding pair of headphones.

  • is 100euros overpriced?

  • @EchtePoekel yeah :) i would say about 50-60

  • @CCReviews but why? I mean, the bass is extremely nice and the sound is clear, that is just what we want or?

  • @EchtePoekel It is certainly a good headphone, but a bit overpriced in my opinion :) Even the stretch which i like more than this one is a little overpriced at 100 euros. For a hundred you can get for instance the Pioneer HDJ-500, of which Ive read very good reviews, as well as some Audio Technica headphones that are apparently really nice :)

  • @CCReviews ok thanks, im now thinking about or a phillips shl5800 or a pioneer hdj-500, which should I take? I only care about sound quality, i like good bass and clear mid-highs

  • @EchtePoekel The pioneers I think :) I would love to hear those myself, cuz ive read so many good things about it... They also look very nice in my opinion. If you go for the Pioneer, please let me know what you think of them! :)

  • little question.. are the philips SHL 5800 better or worse than beats by dre Solo and/or Studio?

  • @CCReviews Do they cover all of your ear?

  • @Rotkaeppchen1293 Nope sorry, you can't interchange the cables or anything. if you prefer one sided cables, maybe take a look at some new AKG stuff or the new 400 range from Sennheiser. I'll be uploading a review on the brand new HD439 from sennheiser next sunday!

  • i have a problem...i can't decide which headphones are the best for me :( i have no clue about the technical aspects or the sound, but i think i wouldn't hear a major difference between these headphones and "the stretch"... i like the design of these headphones more, because i don't like the stretch's "double headband". but i like the cable of "the stretch", it's only on one side and covered, i really don't like the flat one... is there an alternative??
