Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2CBxDrJghU
The number 5 seems to have a certain allure for major composers in the history of western music especially when it comes to piano concerto writing. Not only Beethoven, but Prokofiev, Saint-Saens, and Rachmaninov all composed with that in mind. In the case of Beethoven, his First Piano Concerto was actually written as the second one, but published first.
Richard Bosworth had a chance to play it on July 15, 1995 with the Yaquina Chamber Orchestra in Newport, Oregon as a part of the Ernest Bloch Music Festival; this performance was conducted by Anthony Armore. Since it was recorded on an analog camera (Hi8 mm), the video quality suffered somewhat in the other movements due to imperfections on the tape. So the first movement is the only one that is presentable enough for viewing. If the problem can be recitified in the future, there will be postings for the remaining portions.
THIS IS PART 1 OF 2.
Lovely performance, excellently played, I enjoyed it. Just one minor quibble - I wished he'd sit up straight - he's storing up a whole load of problems for later in life hunching over the keyboard! Tell him to do some Alexander Technique! Keep that back straight and let those arms be free!

Interesting you should mention posture. I am known for having a good stance at the instrument...maybe, it is the camera angle. How about checking out my other videos? (There are 34 in all.)
Remember, this performance was done over 12 years ago. My playing has evolved and after all these years my back is still fine. I can sit for hours and never get tired or sore.

I think your suggestion about the Alexander Technique is great. I have tried some introductory lessons in it. Are you an Alexander instructor?
Thanks for your commentary.
