  • It sounds like it's the lead lap, in which case you're supposed to take it easy to warm up the tires... Looks to me like John was just following the correct line more or less and may not have been intending to pass, though we do see one of those kit cars and a mustang passing at the end of 7.

  • Not the lead lap at all, he came onto the track in mid event with a driving instructor in training in the car.

  • Isn't that a no-passing zone that the Evo tried to make a pass in? When I was at the February event, the passing zone was after the slight kink.

  • Legal passing zone or not, the resposibility rests with the driver to make sure his mirrors are clear priro to making such an abrupt move as that. Ralph was truly in the wrong whatever reason given.

  • What the heck was that move? Is that Ralph, the lead instructor? He obviously did it on purpose. If he's doing a lead follow to test the guy, that's pretty messed up. I'd be pissed!

  • Yes that was Ralph the lead instructor. What an idiot. He claimed he knew he was there but that is even worse than not checking his mirrors and not knowing he was there!

  • Wow.... I know they tell you to watch out for crazy driving then there are instructors testing new instructors on track in the downloads but that was both epic and dangerous! I'm glad that wasn't me...

  • I see. Yeah, that's just dumb. Anything happen during the download?

  • BTW, are you going to the Feb 2009 event? I'm planning on being there on the 14th and would love to see your car in action. I was at the IS-F event at California Speedway and had a blast!

  • I'm not saying that Ralph wasn't wrong, but to pass in a no passing zone is also wrong. If the Evo was truly attempting a pass in this situation, he should get a strong warning as well.

  • Wasn't a lead-follow... I heard Ralph had an "instructor in training" in the car and was driving erraticly to see how the guy would do. But CHECK YOUR MIRRORS!! I was pretty heated for a while after that.
