2010年8月に長男が4歳2ヵ月で児童英検ゴールドを初受験して、50問中39問正解(正解率78%)でした。


父：So tomorrow where are you going? 明日どこに行くの？
シンタロウ：To China to say ni-hao. 中国。ニイハオって言うために！
父：Hahahaha.OK. and so who are you going to China? With your mom? ハハハ。誰と中国に行くの？ママ？
シンタロウ：Yep. うん。
父：And? それから？
シンタロウ：And in three days you will come hooray!! それから3日後にダディが来る。やったー！！
父：Yeah I will go in three days so please wait for me OK? そう、3日後に俺も行くから待ってろよ。

という訳で明日から僕も中国へ行ってきます。東京のシンタロウの友達のお母さんが中国の人で、3ヶ月間里帰りをしているので、僕たちも便乗することになりました。大連から­車で3時間の田舎だそうですが、食べ物は美味しいそうです。思いっきり食べて太って帰ってきます。

Sorry I did not write clear enough. Some people told me teaching a baby a second language even before he could speak could confuse him.....

@VR2UNA Not at all as long as you don't mix languages in one sentence. For example you shouldn't say "それを take してください" or "Please take あれ". Good luck!!

早いご返答ありがとうございました。 I don't think I will teach him Japanese at this moment although I myself enjoy Japanese language and culture. I don't want to give him too much push. And of course, if one day he decides that he will learn Japanese I will be very happy.

二つの質問が有りますが

１、シンタロウさんが何歳ごろから、英語を終えてやり始めました­か？

２、私も自分で英語を教えたいんですが、そちらも自分でなされて­きたんですか？

A1. I started speaking English to my son since he was born.

A2. I only taught him English.

@VR2UNA Thanks! Point is don't think you're teaching. Just enjoy to play with your baby in English. 日本語もお上手ですね。お子さんはトリリンガルになれますよ。

Thanks for your sharing. Its very helpful to me. You have been a successful father and Shintaro is a smart boy. I am now very much tempted to start my English "venture" with my son. Some people told me that teaching a baby even before he could speak could probably confuse him so I hesitated until now, thinking that once he is at able to mumble some words in Chinese. But I am not sure which path I should follow.

And you are right. No to "teach" but to enjoy English with your son. Yes I agree with you. Thats what I intend to do. Seems that we think alike.
