  • Was a similar EBS warning played on any other radio stations? I can't imagine that WOWO was the only station that got the false alert. If so, do recordings exist of the other stations?

And the classical music played during the alert is creepy as hell. The music of the apocalypse. The Partridge Family ad sounds so petty and meaningless contrasted to the seriousness of the EBS alert.

  • 41 years ago today!

  • Hi Folks - Bob Seivers here. We've been authorized to scare the crap out of you as we've received official notification that there's a national emergency in progress.

    Oh, never mind..

  • How many would have preferred Armageddon over having to listen to The Partridge Family?

  • @swami1: Where, exactly?

  • I would have made the air force pay my laundry bill after that.

  • this was probably just a pr stunt by underwear companies

  • Too bad the non-music material seemed to be scoped.

  • The local Kmart did a brisk business in new underwear sales the day after this...

  • Obviously, this was all part of Richard Nixon's vendetta against Danny Bonaduce
