Empire State Building Lights up for Chinas Communist Regime

Manhattans tallest building is drawing criticism from New Yorkers. Its over a decision to honor the 60th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party's takeover of China by shining red and yellow lights.

A totalitarian dictatorship should not be honored by the Empire State Building tonight.

Protestors are red with anger over the Empire State Buildings decision to honor Chinas red revolution. For the past two nights these red and yellow lights—representing the Communist Partys flag—beamed atop Manhattans tallest building.

By doing this, its contributing to the legitimacy of the Chinese government, which is something that the Chinese government wants to spend money to buy, because theyre insecure, and they know that people around the world know about the human rights abuses in China. So they want to buy their legitimacy.

The Empire State Building has been lit with red before—to celebrate things like World AIDS Day or the American Heart Association—but this is the first time its been lit to honor a communist revolution.

Neither the Empire State Building nor the Chinese consulate would return phone calls on Thursday for comment. But Chinese consulate spokesman Gao Wenqi told the Huffington Post that it was "a bilateral decision, reached through a consensus between the building and the Consulate."

The same consulate that has worked to incite hate crimes on U.S. soil against groups like Falun Gong.

And the same consulate that represents a regime thats caused a hundred million deaths since it took over China exactly 60 years ago.

When we get a president in office that everybody calls communist, we honor a communist revolution! I believe that they are trying to tick people off & divide this country. Everybody is stressed out & on edge and they keep pushing the envelope! Why would we celebrate something that we have fought wars over and lost US citizens over? It has no place in this country.
