Don't panic, qualitatively speaking, nothing to do with a next outrageous, nauseating & pathetic AvP 'film'...
Indeed, after a first poor transition from the original comic books to the big screen in 2004 and after a 2nd disastrous try in 2007, the AvP franchise is coming back for the fourth time as a FPS video game...
A land on which the franchise has never really disappointed followers...
Rebellion (british studios who signed the 1st & very interesting AvP First Person Shooter on Atari's Jaguar console in 1994 & the great 1st AvP FPS on PC in 1999) are seeming to offer a well-groomed new game version, edited by SEGA, including visibly nice references, nice influences... Principally James Cameron/Stan Winston unforgettable imprint from 1986 - obviously the most popular episode of the Alien(s) franchise, clearly the best reference choice for such shooting games - and the Comics imprint existing for 20 years are nicely palpable.
As I wrote in a comment answer on the AvP Story trailer page, although I was both excited and perplexed when the first teasers & trailers were available, I have to admit it: I'm nicely impressed by the remarkable work made by Rebellion on the general apparent design of this game. The background, all the protagonists characters, the sceneries, the work on the lighting... a very nice job brilliantly mixing all the Alien(s) & Predator series visual, sound, atmospheric codes... Interesting, very interesting...
Following the gorgeous AvP 2 game (Monolith Productions-Fox Interactive-Sierra) from 2001 and pending the completion of Gearbox-SEGA's Aliens: Colonial Marines, many are impatient expecting the release proudly announced for February 2010 on PC, XBox 360 & PlayStation 3...

Besides Aliens and/or Predator games actuality, there are some films news. indeed, a few months ago, an (untitled) Alien Prequel feature film has been announced for 2011. Don't panic, the film won't be directed by a director as Uwe Boll or as the Strause Brothers (no comment... I'll just say that Paul W.S. Anderson AvP version, is not objectively an achievement but it's not so nauseating as the sequel...) but by the famous British Lord Ridley Scott who opened the myth 30 years ago... Film which will (at date) be produced by the Scott Brothers (Ridley & Tony Scott) and which will be more or less written by the Alien(s) writers known team. Some rumors (TBC) would argue that an overlap between the two franchises would be intended...

Concerning the Predator franchise, same case: a prequel's been announced a few months ago for next year: 2010. The project is already in its post-production phase. A feature film called 'Predators' produced by Robert Rodriguez ('Grindhouse: Planet Terror', the three 'Sin City', 'Machete'...) via his 'Troublemakers Studios' and under the direction of Nimród Antal director of 'Kontroll' (2003*) film several times rewarded and nominated in film festivals (as Cannes, Mexico, Copenhagen, Philadelphia...) & 'Vacancy' (2007**).
For this Predator franchise come-back, the Aliens - Predator overlap rumor is the same (TBC but, in my opinion, highly probable...).

../..
(...) The 1st 'AVP' was the 1st train leading the 'AVP' franchise to Auschwitz.'AVP: R', the 2nd 'movie' (rather 'disgusting clip' or 'bad porn') way more disastrous & shameful (THX to 'Strause Brothers'), was its arrival to the concentration camp. It's not Cinema, it's prostitution & franchise genocide. BTW, are you maybe confused between Paul W.S. Anderson and Paul Thomas Anderson?... This last one's a good director, a real one.
Thx for the comm'. Cheers.

@Blackhoundrise 1/2
Hello, man. A good director (°O)!?... No offense, but, objectively speaking, he's a movie maker and not a director (it's not the same). Do you know the true meanings of screenplay, script, writing (most of true directors write their films themselves), staging, pre-production & direction? Do you think budget is the only need for a film? Sorry, but scenario, script and, most of all, talent are required. (...)

Hello, Flashlight1996 ; )
No shit (^^). Lol, I would firmly say that it's him, the original one (flesh and blood version ^^), not the synthetic one. The original which was introduced in 1991/1992 Alien³ scenario.
Bishop-related screenplay speaking, this game seems to propose an overlap between the Alien³ film and and the two AvP 'films'... I'm curious to see and experience the final result in a very near future... in other words, in a few days...
Anyway, thanks for your comment, man ; )
