  • Does anybody knows if the writing part written in the computer or in paper??

  • @fjugui Hi there. If you're taking the iBT version of the exam, you will have to type out your essay on the computer. Best of luck!

  • By practising essays, I had an article discribing 3 different strategies (for raising children) and in the lecture, the professor did not really refute it (the article also did not include any opinion-it was only based on conducted research), he only talked about 1 strategy and its drawbacks and about what he prefers instead.

How should I organized this kind of essay?

Thanks a lot, your videos are really great and helpful!

  • @2012JuliaJulia Hi Julia. Unfortunately, this doesn't sound like a genuine TOEFL question. Please stick with practice materials in which the article presents 4 claims about a topic and in which the lecture refutes each claim. This is the only kind of question 1 essay we (and our students) have ever seen. Best of luck!

  • Hi, thank you for giving tips for Toefl exam. I just want to ask you that not including conclusion paragraph is ok for score? what if I cant write enough word when the time left is about to run out? because I can write conclusion easier than other paragraph. Is it no use writing conclusion paragraph to increase words?

  • @a14nuts Hi there. You're right; a conclusion paragraph is not needed and not recommended. It's best to include as much content from the lecture as possible. Adding a conclusion to increase your word count isn't a good idea because it won't provide specific content or detail. Focusing on a conclusion will not add anything to your score and it will eat up valuable time. Focus on improving your ability to take in the content from the article and lecture. Best of luck!

  • Joseph, Thank you so very much for your help. ‘AMAZING’ would be an understatement for your videos! I love how precise and to-the-point your instructions are. I can honestly say that it was entirely due to watching your videos that I scored a 112/120 in my TOEFL exam, on the first try, with 30/30 in both Speaking and Writing, 29/30 in Listening and 23/30 in Reading (ran out of time in the end…boo hoo). Your tips helped me structure my answers so much better.

  • The speaking section was such a breeze thanks to your fill-in-the-blank approach. I will strongly recommend your videos to anyone taking up the TOEFL. THANK YOU SO MUCH Joseph and God bless you :) !!

  • The article states that ______ and provides three reasons of support. However, the professor explains that _____ and refutes each of the article's reasons.

First, the reading claims that ____. The professor refutes this point by saying that _____ He states that _____

Second. the article posits that ______ However, the professor says that ____ according to the professor _____

Third, the reading says that _____ the professor opposes this point by explaining that _____ we also learn that

  • Hi Joseph! I found your videos through a couple of friends; they were very useful for speaking and writing.
