Jeez, dudes, Didem this and Didem that. Didem is a great dancer, but she always has a sour face and she looks like you could snap her in half. To me, that is very unattractive. This Fatima girl is a great dancer who looks like shes healthy, toned, and would enjoy her life and her dance. Mmmmmmmmm...nice

@bab5spadesking There are articles out there on belly dance sites a well that talk about the differences. But NiniBaseema is right about the videos. I would also look up lebanese dancers so you can see their style. Morrocans have their own style and so do Americans/Europeans though they tend to pull more from one thing or another. Generally the folk dances and traditional music of a region influence the belly dance. Know the folk dance, know the classical dance.

@NiniBaseema It would be interesting to see a video showing the differences between the various branches. What is the difference between Egyptian and Turkish, etc. belly dance?

@bab5spadesking I dont know of videos tht show the diffrence but I think if you have a look at videos with very typical dancers you can tell. For traditional Turkish style I recommend checking out videos of Tulay Karaca and Nesrin Topkapi, for typical Egyptian style I would recommend videos of Fifi Abdo, Dina, Randa Kamel etc. Egyptian is a bit more "relaxed" than Turkish, but it certainly depends on the dancer herself too!

@bab5spadesking I dont know many videos who would show the diffrence but I think if you have a closer look at videos with very typical dancers then you can tell yourself. For traditional Turkish style I recommend Tulay Karaca and Nesrin Topkapi (they are pretty diffrent and also very traditional Turkish) for typical Egyptian style check out Fifi Abdo, Dina, Randa Kamel etc. In contemporary Egyptian less is oftenwise more, in Turkish style dancers usually dance every accent and do many shimmies!
