Passion came to us very sick at barely 3 days old. She likely didn't get needed colostrum from her mom after she was born - she had open sores on her body from struggling to get up to nurse her mom. By the time we were called to get her it was likely too late but we had to try - we held onto faith and hope. Once Passion and her mom, Starla, were in our possession they went straight to the hospital where Passion received plasma and proper medical treatment. We continued her treatment here at the rescue. We had to literally pick her up every couple of hours for her to nurse and get exercise - she couldn't get up on her own - this little filly weighed only 65 lbs. We treated her sores and we loved on her constantly. We prayed hard, shared her story, and many people fell in love with her. But God had other plans for our baby girl. Her name came about because when I first saw her, so weak yet so full of life and with a huge desire to live, it reminded me of why we do what we do in helping horses - it is my passion. I'm just so sorry we couldn't save this little one. Her heart was so strong but her body couldn't fight the infection raging throughout it. Had she received proper care after birth perhaps she'd still be with us today - we'll never know. God bless our little Passion - she flies pain free now with heavenly made angel wings. We love you little one - always.
God bless you all for trying so hard to save her!!

Theresa, I watched Passion's video for the second time this morning. I wanted to get the name of the song, so I could read the lyrics, but I ended up watching the whole video again. What a precious little soul. At least she got to act like a baby should for awhile, she was so precious taking her little baby hops, she was happy and loved Theresa and she is forever grateful for that, her last days were filled with so much love.

A beautiful tribute! At least she knew the joy of loving hands and caring hearts. Sometimes that is why they come to us, so we can send them over the bridge with love. A heartbreaking responsibility, but maybe the most important one of all. <3 <3 <3

GOD bless each and every one of you at Beauty's Haven. My heart aches for all of you. I was not going to watch this video yet I was drawn to it to see the joy that came before the heartache of her loss. AND to REMEMBER just why we all are fighting this battle.... THANK you for showing her love and that there are caring people in this world.

Such care and loving. Passion was a lucky girl to have you there when she needed it. Such a sad end for a beautiful girl.

A lot of tears have been shed this past week. Really thought she might make it. Her legacy will live on...we will see to that.

She knew love and care with you. She is now running and playing, pain free, with your other babies. Jackie
