ECODESIGN Directive: Energy Efficient Motors
European Motor MEPS Impact: «savings» are savings compared to «no ecodesign/energy labelling» scenario - Total savings correspond approx. to the electricity consumption of the UK
Ventilation systems -- Demand Controlled

PrimeEnergy- IT: IEE Project IT Data Centers Energy Consumption

The increasing utilization of IT services in all public and private (such as administration, health services and entertainment, etc) is resulting in growing energy consumption of respective centralized IT equipment;
Experts agree that with continuous increase of data traffic a further and even more rapid increase of central IT energy consumption is very likely in the coming years;
EU-27 the energy consumption of central IT hardware and infrastructure in 2007 was close to 40TWh/year which is equal to 1,5% of the EU electricity consumption.

IT Services Energy Consumption

If business-as-usual is continued in the next years a doubling of energy consumption to 80 TWh/year is expected to occur by 2012 already and a further increase to 120TWh/year is estimated based on a trend extrapolation by 2015;
A broad implementation of energy efficient technology and system optimization however would allow a reduction of energy demand of about 60% compared to the business as usual scenario;
Energy efficient technology is available but needs to be broadly implemented in the demand side market.
