Robinson takes it coast-to-coast and scores against the Bruins in the 1978 Stanley Cup finals. The late, great Danny Gallivan has the call.

  • Great to see so many Danny Galivan fans.

Brings back a flood of memories watching the Canadiens as a kid.

There's Cournoyer dipsy-doodling his way through centre ice.

Oh, Lemaire, with a cannonading drive.

Now here's Savard with his patented spinorama move.

    And Dryden, adjusting his paraphernalia.

  • Danny Gallivan was simly THE BEST!..took an average hockey game and elavated it to the top!! RIP Danny you are sure missed.

  • i would love to watch all those old games with the habs. @knicksfan89 ,if you could help me find them that would be greatly appreciated.im a huge habs fan,so you know i like to live in the past.

  • @jrbleau Well, I think it was a sentimental thing, either way, the series was so great that even a monkey could have called those 8 games and made it fun ;)

  • One of the biggest shames in Canadian hockey was when Foster Hewitt was selected to announce the 1972 Canada-Russia hockey series. Hewitt was as boring as Gallivan was exciting.

  • @knicksfan89 this game is available at a number of sources on the internet...I have every stanley cup final from 1970-1980 on dvd...but not for sale.

  • Your grandfather was & still is THE STANDARD as far as I'm concerned. I bought the Canadiens 10-Best Games DVD Pack for this reason only.

  • what video is this from by the way

  • Brendan3990: you must be proud. Those great Canadiens teams in the '70s, playing in the most historic hockey venue ever, the Forum in Montreal. and the great Danny Gallivan making the call. Those were the days. Danny was from the old school, told you what was going on calmly without blabbing endlessly, and conveyed the excitement of the game without going bonkers. Nobody exclaimed "HE SCORES!" quite like Gallivan. Still gives me a chill 30 years later. Gallivan was simply the best.

  • Coast to coast like butter on toast. Big Bird was awesome......
