The present invention relates, in general, to wave power converter and, more particularly, to a wave energy converter, which includes: a floating body, which is
exposed above the surface of seawater due to the buoyancy thereof; an actuating unit, rotators and a linear member, connected to the combined rotary unit, and a tension
maintaining member for tensioning the linear member to maintain the linear member
tight; and an energy converting unit, such as a generator, which is provided at a pre
determined position in the actuating unit or the floating unit, thus converting wave
energy into electric, potential or kinetic energy.

  • I keep coming back t this thing.

    Love it's homemade feel. :)

  • Seems like a lot of effort to make an expresso though.

  • @arcart0 1500 gigawatts purely by changing vacuum cleaners ? sorry i think thats too much. I doubt the UK even uses 1.5 terrawatts in the entire country. Unless we have millions of Mary Poppins type characters working 24/7 on the rugs.

  • Now what elastic bands did they use?

  • God, I love the homemade feel of this thing.

The basics behind it is simple enough, but it's biggest downfall is the amount of wear and tear that is incurred during operation. Still a cool thing. :)

  • Probably they should be investigating new ways to save energy before they spend vast amounts of money. A case in point is that in 2005 the Government, Market Transformation Program had tests made on a new type of cleaner that employs Air Recycling Technology. The results show that it could save 1.5 Terawatt (1,500 Gigawatt) each year in the UK alone. Simply, by changing the type of cleaner we use in our homes. It was originally designed to remove health hazards inherent in the vacuum cleaner.

  • and gravity

  • the gear system is good enough for knowing how it works. the rest is the buoyancy stuff.

  • me too!

  • amazing!!!
