I had the same set, but I revamped it completely because I thought the stock model was boring.
Ditched the stupid wheels and gave it proper parallel landing strips that fold electronically. The rotors spin a good 6x faster after changing the motor setup. Gave it cool "Delorian-esque" doors that fold up electronically. Made it independant of the base. Gave it a light system, and my favorite, a pnumatic system that causes stuff to "fire" out of it. Seeing the old model is nostolgic, though..

I have that set, the T-Rex that you can build with the same parts is a much more interesting model.
