  • She is... stunning. This is what Violetta was written to be - precise, passionate, and chocolatey. One soprano I can think of has the darkness, the passion, but not quite the precision; another has the precision, some of the passion but is really bright in tone; others, well, don't measure up. This is one of the hardest arias in the repertoire - and Zeani OWNS it.

    Wow.

  • Sicuro75, you don't know what you are talking about. Or you are just another high note chaser. Diva Zeani is celestial.

  • Great voices and also bravo for Virginia Zeani and also for Ion Buzea. The cabaletta of Alfredo with Buzea is wonderfull!

  • No one like her "Violetta"! Brilliant ! Romanian be proud of HER! Thank you Virginia Zeani!

  • No doubt. She was one of the best “Violettas” ever! She brings us back to the old good days of the opera. Thank you.

  • The role of Violetta was indeed for the GLORIOUS Virginia, as they say in Italian,. "caval di battaglia" (battle-horse). Mme Zeani, in her highly artistic but also genuinely spontaneous portrayal, has succeeded in bringing true life to a Violetta that is simultaneously passionate and fragile, strong in personality and vulnerable, sublimely tragic and yet utterly simple-hearted. I really admire her Violetta and I had the pleasure to get two of her Traviatas, Covent Garden (1960) and MET (1966).

  • As close to perfection as it could get.

Thank you, ariadna2006, for posting this jewell.

  • @sergiu17 Exactly! They both lived each role they portrayed with every fiber of their beings!

  • @adeville Exactly! They knew how to ACT with their voices, they used their voices to express joy, sadness, love, hatred, anger, fear, despair, everything, everything! Their very SOUL poured out in their voices!

  • thanks for posting it. Amazing.

  • Brilliant. Were the old singers just BETTER? I feel they gave everything and current ones are too careful?

  • OMG!!! It's goregeous!! I adore Virginia as a Violetta. Her singing ans emotional expression are brilliant!! And she's so beautiful for this role! GREAT SINGER!
