  • @wildcattamergirl The reason for the lack of original success was that this song was before it's time..The sexual overtones were a little hard for most radio stations to accept in 1956..especially where Johnny Burnette is actually saying "trucked", and it sounds like what you hear-not "trucked"..However, this is on of the few rockabilly numbers that you can see the intensity familiar with modern day rock..

  • I grew up with bands like Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith, but I prefer this version over theirs. Pure, raw excitement, swinging, in all its simplicity. Those flashy 70s bands, with all their amplification, strayed away from the basics too far.

  • @jezzejam I did. lol... right after reading that sentence.

  • Without question, this is the best version.

  • @jezzejam Ohh. I didn't see @DavidVOJr 's comment.

  • @orwigza By any chance did you come here after reading the rolling stone ''The Black Keys'' issue?

Cuz if you did you are my best friend.

  • What a gutar and bass on this song! It's history as a cover song for various hard and heavy bands like the Yardbirds and Aerosmith is understandable, because my ears hear this as the original proto-heavy metal song, the starting point that led from Burnette to Motorhead and Thrash. The ORIGINAL kick-ass rock 'n' roll anthem!

  • Brilliant. Better than Zeppelin!

  • This record was played by all rock stations in Boston when it came out. Did great sales in the Boston mkt. along with his other Coral releases. When he went to Liberty and Dorsey went to Era they both became successful and SOFT. Johnnys album on Coral is worth big bucks if you can finf it, There is a bootleg version that is near perfect so be careful.

  • 7 people clearly having had a prefontal lobotomy don't like this. Take them back to the home nurse.

  • @orwigza haha, that article brought you here too?
