Beans solo exhibition at Get This! Gallery will be an experimental exploration of new media using images and sounds, combined with technology to communicate messages both random and intentional. This show will document a contemporary method of creating art with computers, which results in disorganized images from the unique point of view of an artist with dyslexia.

According to Bean, art is randomized information. His work presents old media in a new context and uses information to create new understandings or knowledge within the art domain. These images are part of an experimental exploration in new media using digitized information. The exhibit also reveals a body of work that is in constant development.

Historically, this work builds on the Dadaist art movement by incorporating video-montage and use of strange juxtapositions. It also picks up on Walter Benjamins (1936) ideas on art in the mechanical age, but with a shift in focus to art in a digital age, where work can be produced in excess and be created and published immediately. Computers and the advent of new technology enable the artist to produce work at an incredible rate. Approximately 40,000 original and appropriated images are used in this multimedia venture.

Bean Summer // Ben Worley has exhibited in the United States and internationally, including the 2007 Atlanta Biennial, Cochella Music and Arts Festival, Cochella, California, 2009. Worleys won the Netta Strain Scott Prize in Art in 2002, and his work was purchased and placed in the permanent collection of the Georgia State University, Library. Worley is a selected artist in the Atlanta Public Arts Program Artist Registry. This is his first solo exhibition at Get This! Gallery.
