UC Davis Chancellor Katehi breaks weekend silence after the infamous UC Davis peaceful student protestors pepper spraying incident that took place Friday, November 18.

Following the Occupy UC Davis tuition fee hikes protests, Katehi called the police who infamously used pepper spray on nonviolent protestors refusing to move. Many called Katehi responsible and her actions in regards to the "safety" of the students prompted a petition calling for her resignation. Katehi speaks at the rally, offering an apology.

From the description of the infamous pepper spray video;
"During peaceful Occupy Movement, police came in to tear down tents and proceeded to arrest students who stood in their way. Once students peacefully demanded the release of the arrested, a police officer unnecessarily pepper sprays the students to open a path for the rest of the officers."

  • Apology NOT accepted.

    No one is indispensable.

    No one needs her, but Linda Katehi needs the job.

    Trust is hard won, easily lost, and never [fully] regained.

    Like students a University Chancellor must learn from his/her mistakes.

    RESIGN NOW!

    Her own faculties are calling for her resignation on this. If you've lost the respect of your staff, how are you ever going to expect to get anything accomplished?

  • She needs to go... right now. and the UC Davis "police force" needs to be de-militarized: they don't need weapons, they don't need riot gear and they certainly don't need chemical weapons. That a university has such a security force is just unbelievable and completely unnecessary.

  • Whether she was broken up or not, the decision to send campus police in full riot gear into this situation without taking the implications of doing so into consideration, was an incredibly poor one. And she was the one who made it.

    You don't send cops in full riot gear into a peaceful demonstration and expect they're going to ask the protestors to play dominoes and split a sandwich. A person of her level of intelligence should have understood that from the beginning.
