The last rush hour from now-gone Gare de la Bastille, recorded sound and photos from 12 December 1969. Steam trains from this station to suburban Boissy-St. Leger were replaced on the following Sunday by the RER electric trains, operating from a new station at Nation Métro.

  • @erniegannsmate - Merci! If you haven't seen it already, I recommend the book Brassaï, Paris by Night, published in English in 1987. It was originally published as Paris de Nuit in France. It has some great black & white photos, all at night. This new edition came out after my time in Paris, but I think that style of photography seen long ago influenced me. During my visits to Paris I usually had the feeling that I had been there before.

  • Very atmospheric. Somehow black and white really suits the subject matter. It's just so....Parisian. Good stuff!
