The Batterie was part of the Westwall defences and was built by the Todt Organisation which had previously built the Autobahns all over Germany. Originally named Siegfried the Batterie was renamed Todt after the mysterious death of Dr Fritz Todt. The Todt Organisation worked at over 1400 sites which involved the organisation of 340,000 men.
