Doug Fisher discusses the future of Moblin, including MIDs (mobile Internet devices) and in-vehicle entertainment devices based on Intel's next-generation Moorestown chips for devices. These devices will run Moblin-based technology that evolved from netbook software. Fisher then introduces Jim Zemlin, executive director of the Linux Foundation, which has taken over as the vendor-neutral steward of Moblin technology. Zemlin's talk focuses on the value of Linux, the innovation that happens in the Linux ecosystem, and how Linux technology cascades across multiple industries, from super-computers to servers to mobile devices. He concludes by underscoring the developer momentum that Moblin has achieved, and the Linux Foundation's commitment to helping create innovative products.
