This is by far the best Doira video I've seen. Even though I am from Uzbekistan and grew up listening to Doira's tune in weddings, concerts this video shows some very innovative ways of playing doira, kind of mind blowing :)

That's great! Really, I'm actually not a fan of the Dap(as Uyghurs call it), but this is a masterpiece!

What's the difference betwenn Dap and Doira? I thought it would be the same.

regional name. The construction might vary too, but Dap is a common Armenian name as well as other regional folks call it Dap.

lol the frame drum is called a doira... and incredible beats!! its freakin hard to play that for 4 minutes!! imagine doin it for 8 minutes... both arms will be sore from shoulder to ur fingers... like i said incredible beats

agreed. When I filmed the DVD with Abbos, I knew we were in for a much different instrument than I had been playing as a frame drummer. But fortunately I've had experience in muscle training that I apply to stay relaxed while playing. I fatigue pretty quickly, but can see a zone of relaxation from time to time that extends the playing stamina on this drum. I have no skills next to Abbos, so it will take time. But it is worth it.
